She is now a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, enrolled in the School of Dietrich Arts and Sciences for a degree in Public and Professional Writing and a minor in Creative Writing. While she is not working towards her degree, Lauren likes to play a pick up game of soccer, read the latest Colleen Hoover classic, further her skills as an amateur photographer and add to her body’s canvas with a new tattoo that will most likely anger her father.

Growing up, Lauren Rude traveled all over the United States. From Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Nassau, Bahamas, to Estes Park, Colorado- Lauren felt happiest as she sat on the airplane heading for each new destination. While she hasn’t been able to find her way outside of the country yet, she has practiced her skills of planning successful trips. Two years in a row, Lauren planned and put into action a week long trip for her and her closest friends to go to Ocean City Maryland beaches. She found a safe affordable house, activities for them to do outside of being on the beach, restaurants that were in each of their budgets, and the best way for them to travel to the beach based on the amount of money they had for gas. The planning and organizational skills Lauren portrayed in both trips will help Lauren create safe and achievable itineraries for the readers of “The Road Most (Knowledgeably) Traveled” as well. With a specific interest in backpacking, Lauren also plans to give a new perspective on some of the “themed,” weeks for the readers who either also have a shared interest in backpacking, or want to backpack themselves one day. Pulling information from accurate resources, and combining it with her own experience, Lauren is ready and excited to share her ideas and research on each blog post.
